Rinse the rice 3–4 times until water runs mostly clear to remove excess starch. Use a 1:1.1 water-to-rice ratio (1 cup rice to 1.1 cups water). Let rice soak for 20–30 minutes before cooking for best results. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand covered for 10 minutes.
